HighAchievers

Are you setting yourself up for high achievements?

I’ve been carrying in my wallet for about five years a little pocket card received during a leadership course. Normally, it sits there, unattended to. But something made me reach out for it… HighAchieversOn the front is a photo of a climber with snowy, perhaps Himalayan, mountains. On the back, there’s a list of characteristics of high achievers, which goes as is: High achievers:

  • Think positively
  • Are willing to pay the price
  • Are willing to accept personal responsibility
  • Expect to succeed
  • Set goals in all areas of life
  • Are on a journey of self discovery and self improvement

Although I understand that achievements only come with the right mix of work, strategy and goodwill, this list of characteristics is still a nice reality check as I enter a new journey in my career. I have high aspirations for myself for the next 12 to 18 months (with a good dose of realism, of course), so keeping this checklist top of mind will be very helpful. I know some characteristics will be harder to follow than others, and in these cases, setting myself goals and seeking the right support network will be critical. Trying to climb a mountain won’t be an easy feat, but there are ways to set myself up for the challenge… And I will also add my own personal item to the list: have fun along the way! :)
