How we ‘show up’ in life has a huge impact on ourselves, others and our environment, yet don’t often question our attitude…

I remember having one of those ‘How are you feeling today’ magnet on my fridge with different faces showing various emotions. It was a simple but effective daily mindfulness exercise to help me tune in and, if I chose to, try to regulate my feelings.

A couple of weeks ago, I started coaching teenagers and these funny faces came back to mind as my co-coach and I were discussing with the group what attitude they would like to bring into the program.

How we ‘show up’ in life has a huge impact on ourselves, others and our environment. And sometimes – or dare I say, often – we just go with the flow without consciously choosing our attitude or even noticing it.

It’s also not a conversation we often have with others – our partners, kids and colleagues. How do we want to show up individually and as a team in this situation or project? I think such a discussion could be very rich in insights and provide opportunities for greater understanding and support.

So try asking: “How do you want to show up? And how can I best support you with this?”
