I’m not a big believer in new year’s resolutions. They seem to be often short-sighted and lacking true motivation. I am, however, a big fan of goals. And the start of a new year is for me a great opportunity to look at what I’ve achieved, and set goals for what else I wish to accomplish.
Looking back at 2015, one of my main objectives was to continue to develop as a great leader – at home like at work. As I often say, “what you put out there, the universe will make happen”. Well, I was given an unexpected opportunity early in the year to fast forward my learning journey as a leader and was made general manager of our organisation. Of course, it’s still only the beginning of a long (and no doubt rewarding) journey, but a big and important step nonetheless.
So as I now turn my attention to the months ahead, I like to ponder the question “What are the five things that need to happen for 2016 to be the best year ever?” I find this question to be a good way to reflect on the big picture, rather than the details. If desired, each of the five goals can then be broken down into smaller objectives. Doing a mindmap, dream board or list can be ways to achieve this.
I have big and fun plans for 2016… My life will change, and I have no doubt I will grow tremendously as a woman, a lover, a leader. Bring it on!
Cheers to a rewarding, happy, healthy 2016!
